Stirring things up at Statscan Statistics Canada's new chief statistician
has a head for numbers and a desire for the agency to 'evolve with the
country'

I just wrote a letter to the editor suggesting in addition to Chief
Statistician reporting that data access reporting would be great, i
discussed public access to public data, cost recovery and that people on
civicaccess.ca were wanting access to the postal code file so that they may
enhance the political participation process but that the file was under a
restrictive license and way to expensive. This I said was thwarting
community innovation on a fundamental issue - the elections.

The article is not accepting comments but clicking on that comments link
will take you to the editor. Take a few minutes and drop a note! We get
StatCan Articles so very rarely and this might be a good opportunity.
