of Toronto's open data website when he kicks off the Toronto Innovation
Showcase.

Open data is the philosophy and practice of making information publicly
available and accessible, without restrictions, for people to use.
Toronto Innovation Showcase, hosted by the City of Toronto at City Hall, is
a free two-day expo for through people to network and discuss the questions
of how to strengthen democracy, and promote efficiency and effectiveness by
making government more transparent, participatory, and collaborative through
information and technology. Attendees will hear success stories, share
experiences about opportunities and challenges in the public sector using
social media, propose suggestions, exchange information on IT and trends,
create connections, knowledge, tools and policies that address the increased
demand by residents for better public service, transparency, civic
engagement and democratic empowerment.
