*1 - New CanVec data now available***

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) announces the 6th release of
CanVec<http://www.geogratis.ca/geogratis/en/product/search.do?id=5460AA9D-54CD-8349-C95E-1A4D03172FDF>,
including:

- Addition of 240 new datasets;

- Update of National Road Network (NRN) for Yukon;

- Update of geographical names.

CanVec 6th release is available in a new distribution format called FGDB
(File Geodatabase)<http://geogratis.cgdi.gc.ca/geogratis/en/whatsnew.html;jsessionid=E86BEA10AEFC7F5E2E69D9B15F56613B#canvec-20100308>.
This format is provided to support the use of topographic data for large
areas such as a province, a territory or the entire country. See the *FAQ

*2 - New CanTopo maps now available***

NRCan announces the release of 577 new and updated* **Canadian Topographic
Maps* accessible as
CanTopo<http://www.geogratis.ca/geogratis/en/product/search.do?id=A6291EF5-F3FC-A29F-3162-DE4DB194FD38>files.
The maps primarily cover large regions of Canada’s North previously
unmapped at 1:50 000 scale, but also include areas in British Columbia, the
Prairies, Ontario and the Atlantic Provinces. Completing 1:50 000 scale
mapping of Canada's northern regions remains a priority over the next two
years.

Paper copies of all Canadian Topographic Maps are also available
through Regional

quality, on-demand plotting of topographic maps.

*3 - Upgraded Toporama Web Map Service (WMS)***

NRCan now offers a new Toporama Web Map Service (WMS) with upgraded viewing
characteristics and topographic data updated on a 6-month basis. The
Toporama WMS is composed of topographic data offered under 16 layers of
information, including: CanVec (1:50 000 scale), National Topographic Data
Base (1:250 000), and The Atlas of Canada (1:1 000 000). This variety of
scales offers many options for data representation to meet user's needs.

Please note that the WMS-CTIS located at “

be phased-out this year. We encourage users to use the new Toporama
WMS.

*4 - Toporama Visualization Prototype – Feedback please!*

NRCan has released a prototype Toporama
application<http://atlas.nrcan.gc.ca/site/english/survey/toporamaprototype>for
‘one-stop’ visualization and access to topographic maps, data and
geoscience publications. The Toporama prototype is developed to gather
feedback on a new initiative to deliver a range of geospatial data and
geoscience publications from a unified portal. The portal utilizes WMS
access tools and a new interactive mapping and access environment. We
request your comments on the prototype through a *short on-line survey* to
help us improve the user experience.

*5 - Canadian Geomatics Conference 2010***

The Canadian Geomatics Conference 2010 will be held June 15-18 in Calgary,
Alberta. The conference theme, *Convergence in Geomatics: Shaping Canada’s
Competitive Landscape*, will focus on intelligent mapping and the critical
role geomatics can play in bolstering Canada’s productivity, innovation,

*2- Nouvelles cartes CanTopo maintenant disponibles***

Publication de 577 nouvelles *Cartes topographiques du Canada* à jour sur le
site GéoGratis disponible sous le produit
CanTopo<http://geogratis.cgdi.gc.ca/geogratis/fr/product/search.do?id=A6291EF5-F3FC-A29F-3162-DE4DB194FD38>.
Ces cartes couvrent de grandes étendues du Nunavut et des Territoires du
Nord-Ouest, non cartographiées jusqu'à maintenant, et couvrent également les
provinces de l'Atlantique, l'Ontario, les Prairies et la
Colombie-Britannique. L'achèvement des cartes topographiques des régions
nordiques canadiennes à l'échelle de 1/50 000 demeure la priorité pour les
prochains deux ans.

*3- Service de cartes web (SCW) - Toporama*

RNCan offre maintenant un nouveau SCW-Toporama avec des caractéristiques de
visionnement améliorées et des données topographiques à jour à tous les 6
mois. Le SCW-Toporama offre 16 couches d'information incluant : CanVec 1/50
000, la BNDT 1/250 000 (Base nationale de données topographiques) et L'Atlas
du Canada à 1/1 000 000. Cette variété d’échelles offre plusieurs options
pour représenter les données afin de rencontrer les besoins des usagers.

RNCan vient de lancer le prototype de l’application

permet l'accès et la visualisation de cartes topographiques, de
données
et de publications géoscientifiques. Le prototype a été conçu afin de
recueillir votre rétroaction sur une nouvelle initiative qui vise à offrir
une gamme de données géospatiales et de publications géoscientifiques. Ce
portail à guichet unique offre des outils d'accès WMS et un nouvel
environnement cartographique interactif. Nous vous demandons vos
commentaires à propos du prototype au moyen d'un *court questionnaire en
ligne*. Vos commentaires nous aiderons à améliorer votre expérience en tant
qu'utilisateur.

*5 - Conférence canadienne de géomatique 2010*

La Conférence canadienne de géomatique 2010 aura lieu du 15 au 18 juin à
Calgary, en Alberta. Ayant pour thème *La Convergence des technologies
géomatiques - le paysage compétitif du Canada à façonner*, la rencontre
mettra l'accent sur la cartographie intelligente et sur le rôle essentiel
que joue la géomatique pour accroître la productivité et l'innovation au
Canada, la compétitivité du pays à l'échelle mondiale et le bien-être
