[CivicAccess-discuss] List of Canadian open data catalogs?

Thanks Alex!
I think at least some of the information on BuzzData is based on work
that I and others did as part of the Open Knowledge Foundation Working
Group on Open Government Data [1].
Back in May we had a meeting on this with many people who were
involved in running data catalogs and lists of data catalogs around
the world [2].
Since then we've been working really hard to build consensus with key
stakeholders in the open data community to have a single list of open
data catalogues. This resulted in the release of datacatalogs.org in
June 2011 at OKCon in Berlin, which Momoko was at [3]. I think
BuzzData wasn't released until July, so I'm pretty sure the
datacatalogs.org list predates the one you link to. We spoke to Pete
and Momoko about interoperability between CKAN and BuzzData (which at
the time they said was very important to them) but nothing has come of
this yet.
The site is curated by people interested in open data from all over
the world. Some of the curators are listed here:
http://datacatalogs.org/about
The site is being used by various people interested in federating open
datasets from around the world.
It would be great to have some input from the Canadian open data
community to coincide with the Open Government Data Camp
(http://ogdcamp.org/) in Warsaw next week!
All the best,
Jonathan
